What Root & Restore Actually Does.

We are a small, founder-run 501(c)(3) with one job: put credible holistic nutrition education in the hands of people living with chronic conditions, for free, anywhere in the world.

Free Knowledge, Regardless of Income

Root and Restore Nutrition Education makes evidence-based holistic nutrition knowledge freely available to everyone living with a chronic condition, regardless of income or location. We publish a free library of guides for dozens of chronic conditions, offer a free symptom checker, and are building a scholarship fund for nutrition students from low-income households. Our work is educational only and is meant to support, never replace, professional medical care.

The Work, Specifically

1. The Condition Guide Library

Our core program. Long-form guides for dozens of chronic conditions across gut and digestive health, hormonal and women's health, cardiovascular and metabolic conditions, liver and kidney health, neurological and mental health, respiratory conditions, musculoskeletal pain, and cancer. Each guide covers what the condition is, how it is commonly tested, which foods and nutrients have research behind them, what conventional care typically involves, and practical first steps a reader can take to their own clinician. Researched from peer-reviewed literature and institutional sources including PubMed, NIDDK and the CDC, with key claims cited inline so a reader can trace any statement to its source. Free to read, no paywall, no account, no advertising.

2. The Symptom Checker

A free tool that matches a person's symptoms to the guides most likely to be relevant, so they do not have to know the name of a condition to find useful information. It is built to be private by design: the matching runs entirely inside the visitor's own browser, and symptom selections are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. Results are never withheld behind an email form.

3. Access for People the Internet Usually Leaves Out

The library is available in English, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, and many other languages. It installs as an app and works offline once visited, which matters for readers on limited or intermittent connections. Every guide is formatted to print cleanly, so it can be saved as a PDF or carried into a doctor's appointment on paper.

4. The Guide Assistant

A conversational assistant grounded in our own guide library, so it answers from our published material rather than inventing content. It is built with hard limits: it does not diagnose, it escalates anything resembling a medical emergency to urgent care, and it carries the same educational disclaimer as the rest of the site.

5. Starter Protocols and Eating-Pattern Guides

A 1-Day Protocol for readers who want a concrete place to begin, plus five plain-language guides to common eating patterns: Mediterranean, macrobiotic, ketogenic, vegetarian and vegan, written so a reader can judge which, if any, fits their situation.

6. The Nutrition Scholarship Fund (in development)

We are building a fund to put students from low-income households in the United States and from the world's least developed countries through formal nutrition education, worth up to $10,000 per student per year. To be transparent: no scholarship has been awarded yet. The eligibility criteria, required documents and application process are already published on our Scholarships page, and the first awards will be made as soon as funding allows.
